REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction
DEFINITION: Under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, facilitates and monitors state and district instructional programs at the elementary level.
START DATE: March 1, 2025
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in School Administration
Minimum of 10 years teaching and administrative experience
Experience in elementary education
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Capability to relate effectively with staff, students, and community stakeholders. Ability to work with a wide variety of community groups and organizations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as leader and general resource person in matters relating to elementary curriculum and instruction.
Coordinates the elementary instructional program in a manner consistent with state and district goals and objectives.
Coordinates and implements staff development program with curriculum and instruction department staff.
Creates agendas and facilitates K-5 principals’ meetings and elementary instructional coach meetings in coordination with curriculum and instruction staff.
Coordinates the process of supplemental program evaluation and selection at the elementary level.
Works with elementary principals in the continuing evaluation of programs to improve student achievement.
Visits elementary schools regularly to ensure effective communication, monitor implementation fidelity, and provide feedback regarding district and state initiatives.
Analyzes, reports and interprets student performance data and makes recommendations for improvement.
Publishes the weekly Monday Memo to inform K-12 administration and instructional coaches of upcoming events and activities.
Attends state level meetings and acts as point of contact for elementary education programs and initiatives.
Interprets the elementary curriculum, its goals and objectives to the Board of Education, the administration, staff, and general public.
Supervises, directs, coordinates and/or assists with specially funded programs as assigned.
Meets regularly with the Assistant Superintendent and the curriculum and instruction department to discuss important issues that might directly affect the district.
Leads kindergarten registration efforts and outreach.
Effectively handles parent/guardian concerns and complaints.
Develops, submits, and monitors budgets for the operation of assigned programs and services.
Supervises and evaluates assigned principals and the district K-5 Lead Teacher.
Provides timely and effective communications regarding incidents and/or situations which might impact the district, its divisions or its schools to appropriate district office/school personnel.
Attends Board of Education regular meetings as needed.
Attends all K-12 administrative meetings.
Represents the district in community affairs and activities.
