Job Summary: The Rockingham County School System, through the two year funding of the NC Stronger Connections Grant, is seeking a Mental Health Clinician to provide direct support to four schools within the school district: John Motley Morehead High School, J.E. Holmes Middle School, Reidsville High School and Reidsville Middle School.

 

Funding Source: NC Stronger Grant 2 year funded (2024-2025 & 2025-2026) - Full Time - 11 month position

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide mental health counseling services for students
  • Develop and lead small groups for students to develop coping, social skills, and social-emotional skills
  • Supervise behavioral health services and provide training for schools (for students and staff) 
  • Provide students with a full continuum of behavioral health supports for prevention and intervention in alignment with RCS Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
  • Provide a full continuum of supports for prevention and intervention for behavioral health for students
  • Lead social emotional learning efforts in schools
  • Assist school staff in providing supports for students in crisis situations when needed
  • Act as liaison between Rockingham County Schools and outside agencies (e.g. DJJ, private providers, DSS, etc.)
  • Serve, participate, and lead the Social, Emotional, Behavioral (SEB) Support Teams  in each of their schools 
  • Work in collaboration with Specialized Instructional Support Personnel to provide supports to students in need of behavioral health services
  • Work with IEP teams to ensure that behavioral health  and social emotional supports and services are in place for students
  • Work directly with students who may have social emotional needs that require specialized plans and individual education plans (IEP)
  • Collaborate with the EC department for students entering the EC program with behavioral needs
  • Meet regularly with the Coordinator of the NC Stronger Connections Grant and the Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Support Services.
  • Collect and analyze data for leading indicators of chronic absenteeism, discipline and student engagement in order to support these four schools
  • Other related job duties as designated by the Superintendent




Qualifications:

 

  • A graduate degree in mental health counseling and/or related field with mental health licensure, social work, psychology, school counseling, or school psychology
  • Have one of the following active NC clinical license or working toward licensure:    
    • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCHMC) (or)
    • Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) (or)
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW or LCSWA) (or)
    • Or other appropriate mental health licensure 
  • At least two years of mental health experience
  • Prefer experience working in the public-school setting or experience collaborating with schools
  • Background in working with students who may be at risk and  youth who have history of mental health needs
  • Comprehensive knowledge of service delivery systems within the mental health system
  • Understanding of and practices system of care principles
  • Excellent interagency collaboration and coordination skills
  • Willing to obtain Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training and willingness to become a trainer (and in other certifications deemed for mental health implementation)
